It’s almost midnight on December 31, just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year. We were drinking some nice red wine from 1997 and playing Apples to Apples with the kids (and Favorite Daughter’s boyfriend) at home, and now we’re watching a DVD movie he brought, Hithchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. There’s a big open celebration with fireworks downtown on the plaza by the Capitol, first year ever, but it’s been pouring rain for hours and no way any of us will be going out in this. Still getting used to this boyfriend thing, but I have to say I’d rather have them here than out on the road, and I’m doing better than her dad!

My nephews called earlier from Gainesville. They are a little younger than my children, and schooled. Their dad gave them a telescope for Christmas and so I emailed them the other day about Sirius being at its brightest point in the sky right at midnight New Year’s Eve. Because of the storms sweeping across the peninsula tonight, none of us will see it as the new year rings in, but it should be visible in about the same place for several days so we’ll catch it, not to worry. I think it’s very cool that I can help them unschool some aspects of their lives even while they are so subject to regular school in many ways.

Happy New Year from Hobe Sound, too! 🙂

Where we didn’t really have the fireworks show we are used to. . . don’t know why.

I know our family wasn’t in the mood. But very few other people seemed to be out firing things off at midnight either.

Hmmm. . .

And good luck adjusting to dating, JJ. A stage I am not looking forward to! 🙂
