My favorite moment in the article is when the author is showing his seven-year-old nephew the SimCity neighborhood that he built. When the author notes that he’s having problem getting a certain area with factories to come back to life, the boy turns to him and says, “I think you need to lower your industrial tax rates.”

Yeow.

Peace,

I spent countless hours back in the day trying to build a Utopian libertarian society in SimCity. I ultimately concluded that the game logic had a designed in socialist bias that made it impossible.

Hoping we’re on the cusp of getting a generation of intellectually independent kids growing up to be politically indpendent too, thus ready and able to make better games without that bias . . .

Maybe they will label their games more clearly. Instead of worrying about an exposed breast that can have new “warning labels” — S for socialist, L for libertarian, etc.

Or maybe they will somehow function without warning labels???? Nah. . .
