Joe “the Immigration Attorney” Wilson — Isn’t

17 09 2009

Not an immigration attorney as he claimed, also like Samuel “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher, not named Joe either. His ACTUAL name is the southern-elite-sounding three-last-names: Addison Graves Wilson.

But what’s in a name, right? (At least it isn’t HUSSEIN!) Do facts and context matter? Does learning more give you the chance to ACTUALLY think instead of spout insanity programmed by your puppetmasters?

Do you think that would justify heckling him with “you lie”?

Maybe that ACTUALLY (Sarah Palin’s favorite word for fantastically misdefining someone or something to suit herself) depends not so much on the meaning of “actual” or “lie” but on the meaning of “you?” Yeah, I’m talking to YOU.

Michelle Malkin offers a Joe lies defense that sounds like it would have applied to Barack Obama too, against his worst deranged critics — guys like Addison You Lie! — except that apparently her thinking lacks replicable results and commutative properties and is therefore unlike the irrefutable logic of addition and multiplication. Weak as reasoning, muddled and useless as problem-solving. Also a flat-out lie every time she self-identifies otherwise.

The Keating connection claim has sent the left into conspiratorial frenzy. Joe is a plant! Joe is a liar! Joe is a [profanity] member of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy programmed by John McCain!

Obama dropped in on Wurzelbacher’s neighborhood, not vice versa. And there are plenty of “close relatives” in families who have nothing to do with each other, do not speak to each other, and stay away from each other’s politics and business.

But Team Obama will grasp at any straw to bring this guy down.

Well, that last part is sort of true, not a lie anyway. If by “straw” you mean ACTUAL facts and context you have a right to know and weigh for yourself . . .whoever you actually are.

hope you can appreciate how proud (not) I am to live in South Carolina with the likes of Wilson and Sanford

My dad was a proud graduate of Clemson when it was still an Air Force Academy; my mom grew up in Walhalla/ Seneca after her family on both sides came down the mountain from Clayton GA. I spent summers in SC most of my childhood. Rural, yes. Conservative, yes. But also much more courtly and better behaved, more sense of civic responsibility than these, ahem, “gentlemen” have shown the nation along with their asses lately.

Has its general culture really changed for the worse so much? — I’d hate to believe that and feel I couldn’t be proud of it anymore.

p.s. We’re been down here in Florida, where nothing embarrassing or insane or corrupt EVER happens! 😉

Nancy Pelosi is from San Francisco but she gets where insane ranting leads too — it’s not just “The South” that needs to sober up, put away the fiery rhetoric, the firearms and the firewater:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s eyes watered Thursday as she called for the rhetorical heat to be turned down across the country, and warned that such words can lead to violence — a phenomenon she witnessed herself in San Francisco.

“I think we all have to take responsibility for our actions and our words. We are a free country and this balance between freedom and safety is one that we have to carefully balance,” she said.

“I saw,” she added, choking up, “I saw this myself in the late seventies in San Francisco. This kind of rhetoric was very frightening and it gave–it created a climate in which violence took place.”

Riots in San Francisco in the seventies were punctuated by police beatings and assassinations, most notably of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk in 1978.

Milk was the first openly gay elected official in California and was shot by former supervisor and arch-conservative Dan White.

“I wish that we all again would curb our enthusiasm in some of the statements that are made, with the understanding that some of the ears this is falling on are not as balanced as the person making the statement might assume,” Pelosi said.

She stressed again that people are free to speak out. “But I also think they have to take responsibility for any incitement they may cause,” she said.

Nance Confer

Florida — where we are all sensible and intelligent. Riiight. 🙂

So if Obama had changed his middle name from Hussein to, say, Good Ol’ Boy Americus, that would have been just dandy with “Joe” Wilson and his followers?

There would have been no outcry that he was hiding his terrorist ties?

Nance — both glad and sad to see other states giving us a run for our money in the crazy category.

It’s this “battle cry” thing that is making ME crazy. All the conservatives both elected and on Rant Radio, are preaching that openly now, never give up the fight, you’ve got em on the ropes, go in for the kill, take back your country from the socialists, liberals, immigrants, atheists, gays, etc etc. Take it back from OBAMA — as if he were an invader and they were the real Americans.

Never mind all the issues, never mind religion and race even. What we have here is corporate-sponsored terrorism and it is revolting. Pun intended.

Here’s a maddening parallel from the sports world — my Gators are playing UT today, against a new young coach who just wants to “excite” his base and is willing to publicly attack anyone to do it, even knowing the charge isn’t true and that making the charge is itself against the rules! If smears were guns he would be shooting up the place, because he’s got the most to gain and the least to lose. It’s a simple amoral calculation, as is most “free market” rhetoric.

Tenessee’s New Coach ‘Volunteers’ for Trouble

It doesn’t produce anything of value for anyone, or make his team any better, just like Sarah Palin or the Joes or the ACORN sting video don’t produce new ideas of value or make government or the GOP any better, nor do they help any American (except themselves!) have a better life. It sure makes a lucrative name for them though. Think Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Coulter, etc etc.

We have similar “agitators” in the homeschool community, trying to make a profitable name for themselves by always tearing down, attacking, obstructing, decrying, throwing sand in the gears of any attempt at progress or even inquiring about what mutual progress could be desirable.

More amoral free market battle cry crap:
Rush Limbaugh to Jay Leno

“I’m not controversial at all … Obama is polarizing … Look at how divided this country is right now.”

Asked by Leno if there was any way for Americans to bridge that divide, Limbaugh responded,”You give up what you believe in, agree with me, we’ll get along.”

Leno also tried to get Limbaugh to agree that Wall Street CEOs should not be making billions of dollars off schemes that hurt investors. Limbaugh strongly disagreed.

“The market will fix itself,” he said. “It’s none of my business what they make, Jay, it’s certainly none of yours, and it’s certainly not Barack Obama’s what anybody makes … If you believe in the capitalist system, you have to erase from your whole worldview what somebody needs.”
