Cock of the snook to Pam Sorooshian for sharing this — and look for her in it! Then share everywhere with everyone you think of. I am thinking of Alpha and Beta right now, but maybe you have a mother-in-law or a neighbor or co-worker you want to send it to . . .

It’s so nice to see homeschooling presented in such a reasoned, thoughtful way. I’m starting to miss it already.
I don’t want to be too specific about this stuff back at my blog, but, may I gripe here?? 🙂
Just this week (today is Wednesday, 5 or so weeks into my daughter’s into to ps):
Her music teacher (who Girl has renamed “Little Ball of Angry”) has told her that she can’t pass any more songs until every person in the class has caught up to her.
Her science teacher actually scolded her for asking for extra credit work: “Why would you say that?? That wouldn’t be fair to the other students.”
And, during the week of Halloween, one of her teachers, who is a huge ghost enthusiast apparently, is going to tell “real-life ghost stories.” Guess the teacher hasn’t heard about separation of woo and state. I’m surprised religious parents haven’t put an end to that yet.
Okay, I’m done.
Thank you for listening 🙂
Any time! But geez 😦
Of course, you’ve already wrought your humanist homeschool devil’s handiwork in her mind and heart, so whether she is literally “home” learning or not doesn’t matter that much anymore. Look at how she is asserting that mind and spirit even in the schooling process! 🙂
I’m going to start a betting pool on when is a HSing mom again. I’m betting she doesn’t make it to Christmas 🙂
I know I typed Lynn after “on when” above.
You could show this video to Girl when she drags in after Hump Day at school. . .just for perspective. Not to be sneaky or anything . . . (whistling innocently)
I won’t take that bet!

Thanks, JJ. I’m trying to stay level-headed about this stuff. So far, Girl hasn’t asked about a return to homeschooling; instead she seems to be amused by it, for now. Just this morning, Girl was complaining that her science teacher collects rocks shaped like hearts because
LMAO – since English teachers don’t believe in rocks; they believe in ghosts, don’t you know! 🙂 I may keep her in school – maybe even well past Christmas!! – for the entertainment value alone! 🙂
Lynn, appreciate that she hasn’t asked. About once a week Girl looks at me and says “Mom, when you are feeling better I want to go back to homeschooling.”
The classes aren’t overloading her (she never has homework) and she’s made a ton of friends including a ‘BOY’ that she’s flipped over – but she prefers homeschooling.
Power of story — you and Girl may have a first book in this somewhere. 😉
Meg: “she’s made a ton of friends including a ‘BOY’ that she’s flipped over – but she prefers homeschooling.”
Homeschooling trumps a BOY?? Wow. What curriculum did you use? LOL 😀
